ragging is usually ok. you get to know seniors. but extreme ragging is done by sick minds that lead to suicides and murders.

You can have introduction sessions in the classes/auditoriums to get to know the seniors. Ragging is a crime. Please don’t try to promote it.

it may be fun for the one who rags or the one who enjoys others' humiliations. ragging is not fun for the one being stripped, beaten or otherwise abused.
the indifferent attitude of the authorities, is something to be ashamed of.
ragging is a crime, promoting that is possibly a more serious crime.

Ragging, mild or otherwise is not OK. It is mild ragging which assumes enormous proportions, mostly leading to death or other unpleasant situations. Instituitions ought to ban this menace and thereby allow students to study in peace.

This guy reported the matter to his family as well as the principal of the college but every one ignored.
I mean this is ridiculous! He should have filed a written complaint in the nearest police station.
Anyways...this will obviously not bring the boy back but it should be a lesson for the parents and the college authorities to take such complaints seriously.
And those four boys should be punished severely so that next time no one dare to rag a newcomer.

Bullying has long-lasting and negative effects on children in later life. For some, it goes beyond simple name calling and becomes abuse.

Kids need to learn to defend themselves. The sooner they learn that not everyone is their friend, and that some people are predators, the better. They need to learn that bullies will leave them alone and go find easier targets once they fight back.

I find the problem with bullying, is most teachers and some parents are jaded and don't have the motivation to actually become a part of a student's life. A lot of them seem to treat bullying silently and its sad because if they actually took active roles in making bullying look genuinely evil and took REAL action against it, it may actually stop. I mean i realize policing 30+ kids in a classroom is hard but i definitely think more resources should be put into child/student psychological services.

The root cause of ragging is no moral education in schools. We should eradicate ragging by giving proper moral values to our children at home. I personally suggest compulsory moral education subject from 1st to 10th Standard. Books like Shiv Khera's "You Can Win" can be added to syllabus.

These raggers should be punished like a criminal. It's a serious crime and is beyond any mercy. The political parties also should rise above their individual ideas come forward to eradicate this ugly system.

Fuck Tanda. I can’t believe people like these are in line to become doctors in future. That institution ought to be closed.

My first reaction after I heard the incident was the same as that of Gagandeep. I too felt that the institution should be shut. But then I realized that it would be unfair to other students of the college. The steps that have been taken - remove the principal (he is responsible for what happens in his institute) and arresting the culprits - are both the right steps. Just making laws is not enough, they must be implemented as well. A stricter vigil by the superintendent could have averted this horrid incidence.
Parents, too, need to pay more attention to such matters. Like Aman’s aunt said, they didn’t take it very seriously when Aman disclosed that he was being tortured. Parents/guardians should immediately approach the principal/authorities in such cases. That might alert the authorities.

It’s really that sad it happened even more sad is the fact that students don’t even know how they can help in cutting the offense in their colleges or institutes.
There’s a website through which students can lodge a complaint against any such offense happening in their campus.
